The External Geodynamics area develops their teaching tasks in various subjects of the courses of biology, marine science, geological engineering, engineering of roads, canals and ports, as well as elementary education teacher. Also collaborates in three official graduate programs: master's degree in sustainable management and water technologies, Master of analysis and management of Mediterranean ecosystems, Master in teaching of secondary education (compulsory, high school and vocational training) and art lessons, sports and languages.

Hydrogeology in arid and semi-arid areas
The arid, semi-arid and sub-humid drylands are expanding and represent more than 30% of the Earth's surface. Among them is included in our province. The decrease in the availability of water associated with the growing demand is a limiting factor for the development of these regions. External Geodynamics group has been working as the overexploitation of aquifers hydrogeological aspects for over twenty years.

Most of the aquifers are Karst nature in our region. These aquifers are a set of singularities that differentiate them from the rest, which can highlight the high potential of their resources and the excellent quality of its waters. The conceptual model that makes them is under constant revision. The research that is currently developed in our department contributes to a better understanding of these media.

Natural recharge of aquifers
Groundwater management should be guided by a policy of sustainability, which leads to the search for a balance between recharge or entrance faced the aquifers and its extraction. However, the estimation of the recharge is not an easy part to establish that there is not a valid universal methodology. Currently, the scientific community is making a great effort in the study of the recharge of aquifers, in this sense, the area of external Geodynamics is focusing part of his research in the field of hydrogeology.

Dynamics of karst cavities
Geodynamics Area studies various karstic cavities in order to establish the operation of these means, in a particularly sensitive region to rapid climate change as the peninsular Southeast.
These investigations include the study of the speleothems, as paleoclimatic and environmental markers, such as the microclimatic conditions and hidrogeoquímicas in these media. This is intended to assess how this climate information is transferred to the speleothems and what is the usefulness of the speleothems as geoindicators warning in studies of climate change.
