This year, between the Thursdays 3 and 10 March celebrates by fifth consecutive year the GEOYINCANA ALICANTE. This activity frames inside the activities of university promotion that realises the department of Sciences of the Earth and of the Environment of the University of Alicante and is headed to student of THIS and Bachillerato of the institutes of near populations to Alicante. The activity GEOYINCANA ALICANTE centres specifically in approaching the Geology to the young students of secondary by means of activities in the open air. For this has chosen the place of the Cape of the Huertas beside the place of San Juan of Alicante, where the coastal surroundings offers a perfect stage for the learning of the Sciences of the Earth.
The day of GEOYINCANA ALICANTE llevar thanks to the narrow collaboration between professors and students of the Degree in Geology of the University of Alicante, where transmit distinct contents that go from the History of the Earth to the geological details that can contemplate in the Cape of the Huertas, like the evidences of the last glaciation, the marine faunas that lived in the ancient Mediterranean or the age of the rocks of the cape that trace back until does 10 million years.
Along these five years of GEOYINCANA ALICANTE have participated near of 80 instituos of the province and more than 5000 students Secondary Education, to which have tried to transmit the bases of the geological culture to understand and reflexionar about our natural surroundings, as well as our passion by the Sciences of the Earth.
